Gary Mah

Wellness Therapist

Gary Mah is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees. Gary has several years of experience working with children, youth, adults, couples, and families. Gary has worked in areas of youth group homes, child welfare, corrections, and social services.

In the past six years Gary has focused and dedicated his practice towards growing and developing as a Mental Health Therapist. As a therapist, Gary aims to provide a safe, respectful, welcoming, and non-judgmental space for people to be comfortable as themselves as they journey towards growth and healing.

Gary has experience working with Indigenous Peoples and diverse cultures in the different roles Gary has worked in. He values continuous learning that includes professional development learning, learning about different cultures, and learning about personal hobbies.

  • Education
    Gary completed a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina in 2015. In 2021, Gary completed a Master of Social Work from the University of Calgary. Gary completed the Master of Social Work in the Clinical Social Work stream that specialized in Trauma Informed Practice.

  • Professional Development
    Gary has completed formal training in various counselling modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Gary has also completed training in play therapy approaches that include sand tray and non-directive play therapy. Along with counselling modalities, Gary completed Building Cultural Competency training.

  • Skills and Knowledge
    Gary has experience and knowledge supporting people in improving intimate relationships, family relationships, improving mental wellbeing, working towards personal growth, and healing from trauma. Gary takes a client-centred, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive approach as he works collaboratively with individuals and families.
